“What a notion to fall deeply and slowly in love with someone. When Geraldo and I first met, we were strictly business. It was all suits and ties and dated baby boomer takes on foreign affairs. But that all changed the moment he playfully snapped one of my suspenders as he brushed past me to grab a piece of lemon loaf from craft services.
Something stirred within me. As he ate his cake and stared at me from across the studio, crumbs coating the crisp white cotton of his button-up, I knew I wanted to push past his four divorces, ignorant media statements, and fame-hungry reporting flubs to get to know the real Geraldo. If I was honest with myself, my own medley of divorces (eight to be exact) had left me feeling vulnerable, but I had to find out—was there more to this man than terrible journalism and failed romance? My suspenders were taut and quivering, aching for another snap.”
