Me as the King on Election Night
“What a notion to fall deeply and slowly in love with someone. When Geraldo and I first met, we were strictly business. It was all suits and ties and dated baby boomer takes on news events. But that all changed the moment he playfully snapped one of my suspenders as he brushed past me on his way to grab a piece of pan dulce from the catering table on set. Something stirred within me. As he ate his concha bread and stared at me from across the studio, I knew I wanted to push past his four divorces, ignorant media statements, and fame-hungry reporting flubs to get to know the real Geraldo. Was there more to him than terrible journalism and failed romance? I had to find out. My suspenders were taut and quivering, aching for another snap.”
